What is Reflexology for Lymphoedema?

This treatment is like a Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) massage, but instead of working on the body, it is solely performed on the feet. Reflexology is a holistic complementary therapy which focuses on activating the natural healing powers of the body. Reflexology offers a natural way to regulate your body.

Treatment can be very effective in relieving symptoms such as swelling, tightness and heaviness.

What happens during a Reflexology treatment?

Reflexology is a very easy treatment to receive because you simply remove your shoes and socks. A full medical history will be taken.  All information will be kept confidentially. The therapist will then use their thumbs and fingers to apply pressure to the feet and sometimes the lower legs. Some areas of the feet may feel tender when pressed, but this will pass. The experience should feel deeply relaxing. Reflexology is received lying comfortably on a massage table. You will be offered a throw, the heated blanket or even an eye mask to help you relax. Measurements maybe taken on the arms prior to the treatment. This enables the volume of fluid held in each arm to be calculated, and compared before and after the treatment
